School Transportation Supervisor – Nantucket
The Cape Cod Collaborative is seeking a location supervisor on Nantucket to coordinate and assign drivers and vehicles to regularly scheduled home-to-school runs and field trips. The Supervisor also drives a school bus route. This is a stipend/salaried position in addition to the hourly rate paid for driving the route. This is a 25-30 hour a week position.
The Supervisor will maintain routes, ensure coverage required to meet scheduling demands, and evaluate and respond to incidents, complaints and/or accidents. The Supervisor position may require additional hours, including nights, weekends, and holidays as needed. This position is subject to mandatory random drug and alcohol testing.
Knowledge and Qualifications:
- Valid CDL Class B with air brakes, passenger endorsement, and school bus certificate
- School Bus Driver Instructor Certificate, or ability to obtain within one year of hire.
- CPR-First Aid, Epi-Pen administration certificate
- Must pass regular Criminal Offender Record Information (CORI) checks, including fingerprint-based background check
- Knowledge of Federal, State, and local school bus laws and regulations
- At least two years of related job expeience is required, direct experience in the school bus industry is preferred.
Duties & Responsibilities:
- Drives a regular school bus route and covers field trips as needed.
- Collaborates with school site personnel and staff regarding transportation of students.
- Dispatches drivers as needed to meet scheduling demands.
- Schedules bus routes, summer routes, field trips to ensure all students are transported in a timely and efficient manner.
- Coordinates vehicle maintenance.
- As a trainer, leads monthly in-service training classes, conducts driver assessments, and trains new drivers.
- Job requirements and responsibilities may be amended/adjusted at the discretion of the Executive Director
Skills & Abilities:
- Must be computer-literate and able to work independently.
- Required to perform simple, technical tasks and to demonstrate the potential to upgrade skills to meet changing job conditions.
- Must adhere to safety practices and be able to safely operate equipment used in transportation.
- Must be able to plan and manage projects, and to maintain accurate records.
