Waypoint Academy Program Director

Anticipated Opening July 1, 2025

Waypoint Academy is seeking an exceptional leader to fill the position of Program Director. The incoming Program Director must have a clear vision to lead our extraordinary faculty in creating and maintaining a rich, engaging, and meaningful therapeutic environment that allows all students to grow academically, social/emotionally, and behaviorally.

Waypoint Academy is a special education public day school program operated by the Cape Cod Collaborative on behalf of the member public school districts throughout the region. The Cape Cod Collaborative Public Day School Program Director fulfills the mission of the Cape Cod Collaborative by working with the Executive Director and the Director of Special Education in the management and development of Waypoint Academy. Under the guidance of the Cape Cod Collaborative Board of Directors and the supervision of the Executive Director/Director of Special Education, the Program Director provides curriculum and instructional leadership, supervision (development and evaluation of personnel), compliance with Federal and State regulations, and adherence to financial and administrative needs to promote a positive, healthy and safe environment for students and staff. Waypoint Academy provides an extension of the public schools in accordance with the Cape Cod Collaborative Articles of Agreement with our member school districts and the Cape Cod Collaborative Policies and Procedures.

Responsibilities and Duties

  • Supervision and implementation of the school’s academic, special education, and therapeutic programs.
  • Monitor the implementation of the school’s academic, special education and therapeutic programming through the use of effective data collection and progress monitoring.
  • Development, supervision and evaluation of staff (including interviewing, hiring, orientation, and fostering retention). Ensure that teachers and paraprofessionals are evaluated annually.
  • Provide formal and informal feedback on observations, lesson plan review, and more.
  • Facilitate staff meetings to analyze student work, review/debrief student and staff needs, and plan for instruction.
  • Establish and maintain a positive culture and atmosphere of respect and achievement in the school.
  • Provide/organize staff professional development and training to meet the requirements of MA Public Day Schools as well as improvement to teaching and learning and the culture of the school environment.
  • Communicate in a timely and effective manner with students, staff, parents/guardians, district liaisons, and service agencies.
  • On an ongoing basis, communicate with the Executive Director and Director of Special Education regarding the status and effectiveness of program staff, classroom supports, student status, and make recommendations on all matters relating to the delivery of services to children attending Waypoint Academy.
  • Communicate regularly with district liaisons regarding student attendance, progress, and quality of service delivery.
  • Protect confidentiality of records and information gained as part of exercising professional duties and use discretion in sharing such information within legal confines.
  • Demonstrate and model professionalism in conduct, demeanor and work habits.
  • Manage staff effectively, holding staff accountable for meeting high standards for student academic, therapeutic, and behavioral performance

Administrative Assistant/Special Education (STAR program)

The Cape Cod Collaborative is seeking an Administrative Assistant for the STAR Program. This position is responsible for clerical support to the Program Director and Director of Special Education, acts as receptionist when necessary, and performs various and changing tasks to ensure school operations run smoothly. This position requires excellent organizational and communication skills, and consistent demonstration of effective interpersonal relationship skills to enable professional interactions with students, parents, and staff.<

This is a full-time position with a 37.5 hour work week. Benefits include health, dental, group life, and paid vacation. Salary is commensurate upon experience.

Responsibilities:

  • Collaborates with Program Director, Director of Special Education, school staff, vendors and general public.
  • Maintains confidentiality at all times.
  • Maintains office and student files in a standard and appropriate manner.
  • Creates and copies a variety of material such as letters, reports, calendars, etc.
  • Manages email correspondence with promptness and professionalism.
  • Schedules IEP meetings.
  • Oversees daily attendance procedures for students and school staff.
  • Assures compliance with accepted adminstrative procedures & policies,including personnel and financial management
    requirements.
  • Greets visitors courteously, detemines visitor needs, and assists per school protocols.
  • Orders and maintains office and school supplies.
  • Promotes a positive work environment and maintains a professional demeanor in all interactions.
  • Performs other related duties or assignments as directed by supervisor.

Qualifications:

  • Relevant experience, training, or certification in office adminstration is preferred.
  • General knowledge of standard office procedures, including a variety of clerical and secretarial duties.
  • Proofreading skills for correcting grammar, punctuation, and spelling errors, review for proper format, accuracy and
    completeness.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Google Docs & Sheets, and ability to use and stay current with a variety of computer applications
    required.

Social Worker/Counselor (Waypoint)

Cape Cod Collaborative Waypoint Academy in Yarmouth, MA is seeking Social Worker/Counselor with appropriate MA and DESE licensure. Experience required with behavioral programming, learning disabilities & mental health issues. Must be a team player, tolerant, flexible. Must be available to work during the summer for the extended school year programs. Salary commensurate with experience.

Primary Responsibilities include:

  • Provide system-wide consultation, program and clinical support within a public day school setting.
  • Provide therapeutic interventions to assist in the de-escalation of at-risk and dangerous behaviors.
  • Work with program team to provide social skills and safety training for students.
  • Collaborate with staff in the development of functional behavior assessments or other school-based needs.
  • Collaborative with teachers for writing and implementing IEP goals/objectives related to social and behavioral needs.
  • Facilitate communication with families, school district liaisons, and community agencies.
  • Collaborative with districts for supporting successful transition back to a less restrictive setting.
  • Provide professional development and consultation as needed to support staff in working with students with a trauma-base, mental health, or other social-emotional disabilities.
  • Willing to become a trainer for program staff on de-escalation and restraint safety.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Masters Degree in Counseling or Social Work
  • Licenses as a Mental Health Counselor (LMHC) or LISW
  • Massachusetts DESE licensure as a School Adjustment Counselor
  • At least 5 years of experience providing therapeutic clinical services and/or special education experience working with students with significant social-emotional needs, autism spectrum or other behavioral disorders.

Position is full-time; regular school year with an extended school year program.

Special Education Teachers (STAR program)

The Cape Cod Collaborative operates public day schools for students with significant learning challenges, utilizing a highly-specialized team approach to support student strengths and help build independence. This is a challenging, yet rewarding opportunity to learn and grow professionally.

The STAR Program (Osterville) is a specialized program supporting students with significant learning and behavioral challenges. There are openings for teachers with certification in Moderate Disabilities and certification in Intensive Special Needs.

Special Education Teacher responsibilities may include:

  • Understanding of ASD and related disorders
  • Understanding of students with multiple medical needs
  • FBA & Development of Positive Behavior Support Plans (including reinforcement systems, visual contracts, etc.)

Waypoint Academy (South Yarmouth) supports students in middle and high school in an alternative school setting. The Collaborative is seeking teachers with Moderate Disabilities (5-12) certification.

Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) - STAR Program

Cape Cod Collaborative STAR PROGRAM is seeking a highly qualified and experienced Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) to join our educational team. The successful candidate will work with students of all ages to assess, develop, and implement behavior intervention plans. This role requires a deep understanding of behavioral principles and the ability to apply these principles in an educational setting to promote positive student outcomes.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct comprehensive functional behavior assessments (FBAs) for students exhibiting challenging behaviors.
  • Develop, implement, and monitor individualized behavior intervention plans (BIPs).
    Collaborate with teachers, administrators, and other educational staff to support the implementation of BIPs.
  • Provide training and professional development for staff on behavior management techniques, data collection (behavior and
    academic) and strategies.
  • Collect and analyza data to evaluate the effectiveness of interventions and make necessary adjustments.
  • Maintain accurate documentation of assessments, interventions, progress monitoring, and other relevant activities.
  • Participate in Individualized Education Program (IEP) meetings as needed to provide input on behavioral goals.
  • Stay current with best practices in behavior analysis through ongoing professional development.

Required Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree or higher in Applied Behavior Analysis, Psychology, Education, or a related field.
  • Current Board Certification as a Behavior Analyst (BCBA)
  • Strong knowledge of functional behavior assessment methodologies and behavior intervention plan development.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with a diverse team of educators, administrators, parents, and students.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience providing training or professional development to educators.
  • Knowledge of special education laws and regulations.

Paraprofessionals (teacher assistants)

We are seeking Paraprofessionals for Collaborative public day schools in South Yarmouth and Osterville, MA. Experience with students with disabilities and / or behavioral challenges is preferred. Training for this position is available.

Paraprofessional abilities and responsibilities may include:

• Supportive and direct work with students for academics, social skills, life skills, activities of daily living, and vocational tasks;
• The ability to work in a team format;
• The ability to physically handle interventions with students and / or lifting, positioning of students with significant needs;
• The ability to work with students with behavioral challenges;

• The ability to assist with life skills, when necessary.

Cafeteria Manager - Waypoint Academy

The Cape Cod Collaborative Waypoint Program in South Yarmouth is seeking a Cafeteria Manager to prepare and serve breakfast and lunch. This position would involve food preparation, cleaning of food prep services, food ordering, and tracking of deliveries. The anticipated hours are 7:00 AM to 2:00 PM on days when school is in session.

The well-qualified candidate will have appropriate ServSafe certification.

School Bus Drivers

School bus drivers require a Class B CDL license with air brake, passenger and school bus endorsements. The Collaborative offers paid training to qualified applicants. $29 to $31.00 / hour ($43 / hour on Nantucket) plus up to $2,000 new hire incentive.

Nantucket - CDL Bus Drivers

Cape Cod Collaborative has an immediate opening for licensed CDL Bus Drivers on Nantucket. Under the general supervision of the Dispatch Office, the CDL Bus Driver has the primary responsibility for ensuring the health, safety, and welfare of the children during transport to and from school.

Position Type: Full-time
Salary: $43 Per Hour

Responsibilities:

      Operates the bus in compliance with all road and safety regulations.

 

  • Follows safe bus loading and unloading procedures.
  • Follows procedures to guarantee no child is left alone on the bus without adult supervision at any time.
  • Verifies that all children have departed the bus at the end of each bus route (morning, evening, field trips or other special trips).
  • Assures that the bus is clean and disinfected, and in proper working conditions at all times.
  • Assures that emergency procedures are followed in the event of an accident.
  • Attends and participates in mandatory training and other continuing education opportunities.
